The Roadsign Australia's Company is the result of a non common story that took place in the middle of the 80's in Adelaide South Australia. To understand the purpose of this story, we have to step back in the beginning of the 70's, when a journey to Australia was considered as “a journey as to the moon”.
Within this time few people could afford any travelling ticket to visit the “hedge of the world”. For that reason, anyone that was visiting the country wanted to bring back home any exclusive souvenir to their relatives. Hence many tourists visiting Australia were stealing those iron yellow road signs on the side of the roads, which could only been found in this part of the world.
As a matter of fact, less signs could prevent car or truck drivers from animal crossings. Thereby there was an increase in car accidents involving animals, and many of them were found dead or injured aside Australian roads.
To redeem against this eco-environmental disaster the Australian government was seeking any solutions to prevent those stealing and thus protect its local fauna.
An Australian native from Adelaide, Roger Carthew who was running a local printing house came up with the idea to produce specific plastic road signs specially aimed for tourists. In 1985 he began to produce those road sign gifts for tourists and began to market them among souvenir shop all over Australia.
Facing an increasingly and immediate success, those Australian road signs became after few years the number one souvenir gifts for travellers, who widespread them all over their local network and rapidly all over the globe.
Almost half of a century after, the Australian road signs have become very famous in many countries in the world, and have acquired a strong recognition among people's perception.
Nowadays the very famous well known logo has become one of the greatest attribute that conveys the Australian values (wildlife, outdoor and simple living, and immensity of landscapes...) into the people's mind.
